The last of a long line of railway steamers is now operating her 2013 timetbale of cruises and is currently in the Bristol Channel.

Info on sailings can be seen on - www.waverleyexcursions.co.uk

Here is the ship departing Penarth this evening for Clevedon.

3 more days on the Bristol Channel then back to the Clyde for the summer. She visits the South Coast and Thames area in September and October.

The ship will only continue to sail with your support - take a trip and sample the last remaining railway steamer for yourself!

Yes; Swanage and area in early September - too good to miss. My initial project to see the U class at the Swanage Railway gala has expanded into a full scale anniversary (wedding) weekend with nice B&B and steam activity not limited to the flanged wheel! Now if this fine weather can only last until then; and paddle steamers don't get banned for the risk of setting vegetation on fire!

    Ah, yes, P S Waverley...

Funnily enough, I remember seeing that vessel for the first time at Ilfracombe Harbour last month. I truly hadn't expected to find it there. Nor was I aware that it was touring the Bristol Channel.

Must keep a look out for it in the future!:)

Well, this fine vessel is set to leave Swanage for an afternoon cruise to Lulworth Cove, with yours truly and wife aboard. Today's fine weather at the steam railway gala came as a nice surprise; will it hold for tomorrow?

Sat saw a trip from Southampton to Portsmouth thence Yarmouth and a Round the I o W cruise . Ros and myself were in Swanage...... And went by SWT from Wareham.
Despite many trips to the fabled Isle this was the first time I'd seen Alum Bay properly let alone the southern part of the island.

It was so good that Sunday saw us going to Lulworth Cove but I regret I didn't see John on the fairly well loaded vessel.

These trips were exceptional especially if you enjoy geology as well as paddleboats. The museum at Swanage. Suggested up to 10 paddleboats worked out of Swanage in 1905........the pier is being repaired and the volunteers friendly. ACE

Still upset over the cutting up of her sister ship PS Lincoln Castle. Nice to see this one how it should be.

Fear not - the sister ships to "Lincoln Castle" are "Tattershall Castle" and "Wingfield Castle", both of which live on. They were built for the Humber Ferry service. "Waverley" was built some 7 years later for the services out of Glasgow, & is bigger & classed for seagoing service.

I agree that it was sad that "Lincoln Castle" went for scrap, but if you think railway preservation is expensive, ship preservation is much, much more so.

    That's the one, Simon.

And just to close out the trio, Wingfield Castle is on display at Hartlepool

sorry for going of topic again. But the people selling her had been offered much more than her scrap value by the preservation group, or that's what I heard. And Wingfield, that's right, it's the 'W' in the name that threw me, admittedly more than a slight difference!

I was on a Neil Cave organised photo charter last Saturday chasing "Waverley" along the Thames from Gravesend to Tower Bridge and back. We had a small boat that carried 12 including crew which allowed us to zip about the place. A grey day which got very grey at Tower Bridge followed by a sunset to die for on the return. A fantastic day and certainly something different for me. My photos from the day can be found here http://paulgildersleve.smugmug.com/...y-5th/32401169_5MPX83#!i=2821646731&k=vDwR6m9

Waverley was back in my region for the end of September & beginning of October on her annual Thames travels. I was able to see her twice at Clacton.

My full gallery of both of my sightings of her can be found here: http://khardy.zenfolio.com/p383895082
