4464 Bittern to do 90mph on ECML - 29 June & 27 July 2013

For those interested 90036 ex works DB red, appears to be working in a following path on the outward journey to presumably haul the return

 

Stock is here, quite a short train, on plat 4.

 

4464 is looking the best I've ever seen it, the stock is a full set of blood and custard, photographers are in for a feast today.

 

Would love to be there to see it leave the X - fingers crossed that Bittern is in fine fettle - have a great trip to those that are on it and enjoy the thrill of being whisked along at 90mph. This is what its all about - the love of Steam.

 

Load 10, no sign of the class 90 referred to, ecs was brought in by a class 66. Notice we have 2 support coaches , a1st's 21269 is also coming for the ride. No 2nd tender though, so water stops it is.

 

Gc HST just gone, our dep will be a few mins down.

0820 departure, climbing / accelerating very nicely thru the burbs, passing finsbury park 0827

 

Switched to slow North of Hornsey

 

Overtaken by a local service on the fast, mid 50's thru new barnet 0837

0845 off Potters Bar, now the trip really starts. 0847, switched to the fast.

 

Good luck for the flight of Bittern........even if she is severely lacking in copper and brass.
It's days like today that make me feel extra proud to be part of our movement.

Looking forward to seeing pics and videos of this and reading ADB96800's updates . Did toy with going to Kings Cross this morning but decided to go see the return on July 27th as thyere was a tour locally for me too see.

 

Everyone on this train is only doing one thing right now, the atmosphere is definitely not like some other trips
