Was in the main hall this afternoon setting up a stand.
Looks like there will be much shunting in the hall tonight as only Dwight and Dominion are in place with 3 empty roads in between.

But, as those at the NRM might say, any publicity is good publicity!

Once again the BBC miss the mark! Does anyone have some mind-bleach to erase Rod Stewart and the last 30 minutes?

Mind you, I guess the NRM weren't going to reveal their big show before tomorrow morning...

    Come on guys.

When do the general media ever report an event like this with true accuracy?

    It doesn't happen.

Cast your minds to what I feel is one of the funniest moments on TV, (and it was meant to be).

Top Gear. Jeremy Clarkson. The crooks car chase. Where he insisted that the film had to show the full ten seconds between him pressing a button that changed traction or something like that, so as to stick to reality. I still curl up laughing at it.

There isn't room for such reality. That's the life we live with modern day media.

The only solution, as hinted at above, is the OFF switch on the remote.

Apologies on the A1ST support coach, I stand corrected, 21269 was 1 behind bitterns support coach, A1ST's coach being 21249.. However the big man himself and many other of the A1ST were resident in there, and being cleaner than the rest I presumed it was the new one, especially as I didn't see much n the way of tools in the brake area, but it has a nice carpet..

The Today programme (Radio 4) had a good report this morning, including recording from the footplate of SNG on the NYMR - I'm sure they'll forgive the reporter saying they were doing 30mph as down to a poorly-calibrated speedo! But lots of atmospheric sound recording and a clip of the interview with Joe Duddington. Round about 7:20am on i-Player if you want to listen again.

Apologies folks for recommending The One Show. I recorded it as I was watching The Tour de France. The One Show was terrible and I was reminded why I don't watch it. Still the BBC Breakfast coverage this morning was far superior.

Oh, I was on Channel 5 watching Thomas, (it had just ended by then though). As I'm interested in watching the episode about bad coal and steaming problems.

The Daily Mail at its finest.

Perhaps they should stick to publishing photographs of celebrities showing their pants.

Driver Duddington must have had longer than average arms to open the cylinder cocks by, errm, 'opening the valve clockwise'..

    0/10

    Could do better.

Well, that confirms it as a world record, although we can now leave aside any debate about the actual speed that was reached.

Because whatever that was, it undoubtedly took the record for the highest speed ever achieved by a one man operated main line steam locomotive.

I presume the great man was wearing his underpants outside of his trousers and had a cape blowing along behind him. And he took time to serve afternoon tea as they climbed to the summit out of Grantham, even fitting in the washing up before Corby. He had planned to redesign the middle big end bearing before Little Bytham, but Sir Nigel called him back to change the crisp, white table clothes at the tables for four where only a few moments earlier Duddington had been serving complimentary tea and coffee to those seated there. So very sadly, soon after he had raced back to the loco to put more fuel into the fire hole, (also known as the fire box), the un re-designed middle big end bearing failed. But that did mean Duddington could ease down a bit as he then had more time to bring hot and cold food or drinks that had been ordered to be consumed on the aforesaid fresh, crisp, white table clothes. Before going home to have a peaceful nights sleep and lovely steam dreams.
