I don't know what happened there. It read Oliver Cromwell in my movie editor but seems to have dropped the Cromwell bit somewhere between finishing the editing and exporting in it Quicktime.

May not have been hot and dry where you are but Thorpe Culvert has been over 80 since 11.00 .

Smart pull away from Wainfleet this afternoon, not a lot of 47 assistance by my ears.:D

Don't know what happened at Peterborough, but Ollie went from 1 early to 21 late on a 50 minute water stop, which meant the light was nearly gone. Time was made up however for an arrival a minute early, and she did sound well passing Offord.

Speaking to a chap at Arlesey and he was using the Connington water stop to leapfrog the train. Said he saw a water tanker looking a bit lost in the area so maybe that's what caused the delay.

I passed the water tanker on the A1, this morning, it had been involved in a slight accident on the black cat roundabout!

Filmed here in The Deepings, and at Heckington. Oh How I wish that shot had been 70013's smokebox brushing the trees aside, but now you know why the 47 needed cow catchers.

A really good day today with 70013 in top form under all three of the drivers. Some stonking runs - eg. even time start to stop Stevenage to the Holme water stop. Standard class had the benefit of being at the front whenever Ollie was in charge and so we spent the whole day with the windows open listening to a Britannia at full chat. The diesel was there because NR asked for it but it did virtually nothing (except between Sleaford and Skegness!) and it was clear that the loco crews were expecting the Cl47 to carry its weight at most and no more.

A signal failure at Connington on the return meant we were held beyond our departure time so that NR could clear the main line. But a 20 late departure from Connington was turned into a right time arrival at KX largely due to some pretty smart running on the slow line.

Thanks to the RTC and especially the West Coast crews who did us proud under not the easiest of circumstances. And if the videos sound noisy, you should have been in the third coach!! What an engine.

That was me! Nice to have met you, although I am not exactly sure who you were amongst the little group at the end of the platform. Got nothing at Arlesey, thanks to the arrival of the stopping train on our platform.

    Hello Everybody,

Filmed both the Down and Up trains yesterday. You could tell that the drive was taking it carefully although got some sound from Ollie after it had passed me.
In the up film the train was going quick still recovering lost time from the water stop at Connington.

Also thought I'd add the link to the film I shot of Ollie last year, exactly one year ago, also on a Down RTC special to Lincoln-Central. The weather was then very different.

The Down train was filmed at Oakleigh Park -

The Up train at New Southgate -

And on 14-Jul-2012 the Down Lincoln Imp with Ollie in charge at New Southgate -

    All the best.

Hi all, just to let anyone know who was wandering, on the return the fire tanker did get to Connington in time, but we were held up because of signal probs north of huntingdon, so all fast trains had to switch to the slow which held us up. Jack.
