Watching Look North on TV last evening he did it. Much steam and him in the saddle.
Oh, and it was obvious he like the chime whistle.

Now "Thats the Way to Do It". Since and very recently proudly upgraded to "Grandad Charlie" shows how to arrive in style.

    Thanks for sharing Neil.

The piece shown on BBC News 24 was good in that the cameraman had a continuous shot of Bittern entering the NRM, and coming to a stand on the turntable. Unusual to see an uncut shot in this day and age of two-second images and tight editing. BBC filming was from the same side as HRH dismounted via some portable steps. Did Prince Charles footplate Bittern at any point?
The turntable in the Great Hall must be well maintained and balanced, because there was no noticable transition from the track on the museum floor and onto the turntable.

HRH arrived in the support coach. He did not visit the footplate while 'Bittern' was in the museum. He did seem to be enjoying himself!

Yes, the BBC News channel covered the arrival live as Bittern eased into the museum. They later showed footage of Prince Charles on the footplate, though not clear where that was. There's a still photo here.

I would suggest that he is shown on Mallards footplate where he blows the whistle care of the compressed air pump used for the Great Gathering.

Charles visited Mallard's cab and then came on to open Station Hall where Helen Ashby gave him a tour of Queen Victoria's carriage and yours truly showed him round King Edward VII's and the Queen Mother's carriage. Some of his recollections of the latter which he travelled in as a 5 year old were priceless.

Were you able to record them so you could add them to the museum's oral history archives?
