Marylebone - Beaconsfield in 2006 with 5690 and 48151 was not much over 20 miles,
though in 2013 Moorgate to Edgware Road with Met no1 isn't double digit miles.

Also hasnt there been Quainton Road to Aylesbury shuttles

PTR's Shoeburyness to Pigs Bay and back was something like 3 miles return. Admittedly it was a fill in move during the LTS shuttles from Fenchurch St, but it was advertised as a separate tour with separate tickets.

8th July 1971, the first ever privately owned diesel train to go onto then BR main line took place when “Cider Queen” ( Hunslet shunter built at Engine Company of Leeds in July 1958, as works number 5460) and three brake vans ran a special charter for the 6000 LA members from Barrs Court Hereford to Moreton under Lugg, Army Western Command Depot and return. Train number 201. Not sure on the exact mileage but could be a contender? Google Hereford Station to Moreton is 4 mile.

Went on one of those on the occasion of the Wirksworth Well Dressing. A very liquid day from what I can remember.

and any number of industrials, when industrials were moved around the network ad-hoc as it was the only way to move them between locations.

Indeed there's a recent picture emerged of an newly built export diesel being tested arriving on a passenger train in Glasgow from the 1960's somewhere..

Are you thinking of the photograph in Newcastle taken in the 1930s with the Armstrong Whitworth "Universal"diesel locomotive that was trialled by the LNER between York and Berwick during 1933 / 34 or that built by Beardmore that was tested by the LMSR around Glasgow in 1929 before being sold to the North Western Railway of India in the same era ?

I suggest a visit to the Ribble Steam Railway museum to refresh your memory; it's the rather large blue beastie with yellow whiskers at each end ! ;)

If we're including Depot Open Day Shuttles, how about Reading 1985, from a bay platform at Reading Station all of 200 yards to a temporary platform on the embankment adjacent to Hodsoll Road.

I think the same event used 5572 shuttling from the depot over the recently demolished bridge over Cow Lane for a few yards & back.
I think it is more than 200 yards from Reading Station to Hodsoll Road, more like 1/4 of a mile at least.
