3 days to go and no indication of the timetable. Does anyone know when it will appear?

Sadly 777 Sir Lamiel will not be able to attend the steam gala but N2 1744 will replace 777

Looking forward to this, living in Holt it's nice and local! I'm also on the loco crew for Sunday so even better! Not sure if or when they put up a timetable, but I have seen the service diagram, and it is going to be a very busy weekend!

I wonder whether 60163 will manage to get to Sheringham. It's currently on the Mid-Hants but the line between Alton and Farnham is closed due to over-running engineering works, probably until the weekend.

Looking on swt web site. There isn't any trains running between Alton and Farnham until Saturday.

    http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/engineeringworkland.aspx

    Taken from SWT web site.

Thursday 29 and Friday 30 August
Trains are be able to run between Farnham and London Waterloo.
Alton and Bentley will not be served by trains all day.
Buses will run between Farnham and Alton.
Replacement bus services will run between Aldershot/Farnham, Bentley Village and Alton. The timetable for this service can be found here: Alton - Farnham Thursday 29 - Friday 30
These buses are unable to access Bentley station so a minibus service will also run between Farnham and Bentley station.
Car park season tickets for affected stations including Farnham, Bentley and Alton will be valid at alternative South West Trains station car parks in the area including Winchester, Farnborough (Main), and Haslemere.
Existing rail tickets including season tickets held by customers who chose to use alternative stations and routes will be honoured on South West Trains services.

According to another forum member. 60163 Tornado is in Ropley up platform with support coach. I wonder if 60163 will now appear at the gala?

I've just called the NNR, Tornado won't be attending. It would appear also that due to the timetable having to be re-organised, that it won't be posted on the website today.

Something is timed for today between Alton and NNR - realtime says diesel timed for 60mph.

That appears to be the original path 60163 was due to take. It hasn't updated with actual times on RTT so it seems its well and truly cancelled.

There is now an official statement on the NNR website confirming Tornado will not be attending.

With no timetable having been published does anyone know when the first train will leave Holt on Friday ? I have a three hour drive to the gala so would like to time my arrival approx correctly. By the way, I have booked sunshine for Saturday and Sunday, indeed I can't remember the last time this gala had a wet one.

Departs 8:29 from Holt. I would think it will be the N2 hauling. However things have had to be changed around a fair amount without Tornado. I am using an old diagram to give you this info.

Next train from Holt will be 70013 at 8:59.

The lady I spoke to by phone at the NNR this morning, indicated that the first train from Sheringham was around 8.00am. Whilst not unhelpful, I have to say she did not exactly go overboard in assisting my enquiry regarding train times, having indicated that no timetable would be posted on-line today (or even at all). I guess it's a case of turning up and seeing what happens.
This will be my first visit to the railway and sorry to have say but not exactly a great 1st impression. I appreciate the staff and volunteers will be busy re-sorting the timetable after the Tornado no show, but a little more customer empathy would have been appreciated.

Simply put, no one knows yet, they are very busy putting a timetable together today. As said before the old diagram states 8:03 is 70013 hauling a goods train to Holt. First passenger train from Sheringham end is 76084 at 8:26

Hope this helps to give you an idea.

It is going to be a very very busy weekend so you won't be disappointed!

Steve, don't worry you should still enjoy it. Due to the seaside and heathland scenery it feels different to most other Gala's apart from perhaps one at WSR. I have decided to leave at 6am and take pot luck with there being something 9 - 9:30'ish out of Holt on the Friday. I am hoping that there might also be an update about the extension to Holt proper at the Gala.
