Departure from Bristol Temple Meads is just 10 minutes before Braunton with the Torbay Express, and both in the same direction (towards Bristol East Jn). Nice to see the assisting DL has a separate path from Bristol to Carmarthen, too.

Has Nunney been repaired now? Not sure how serious the leaking stays (?) were that prevented her working the TBX on 1st Sept. If not, which loco could deputise, given that Ollie also has some firebox problems (leaking tube)?

Nunney Castle in steam at Barton Hill today (FTR exam?). Braunton appears to be just warming through.
Plenty of activity around both engines. <BJ>

5029 departed Newport about 10 mins late, arrived Port Talbot Parkway a couple of minutes early. Playing leapfrog with 47237 which is running light engine to Carmarthen for the Carmarthen - Pembroke Dock leg.

47237 departed Carmarthen (with 5029 on rear) about an hour late due to nobody telling Network Rail that 5029 would need coal.

I've just read that they terminated at Tenby rather than Pembroke Dock.

That's right. Then the train was 15 mins late departing Tenby but right time at 16:58 departing Whitland. <BJ>

Not really. The coal lorry was waiting in the sidings. The problem was getting 5029 from the north end of the train/station to the sidings at the south end via the one available platform which was in use by service trains. The coaling itself only took about 5-10 mins, but it took about an hour to get 5029 from the train to the sidings and back.

Correct that the train turned back at Tenby - going to Pembroke Dock would have delayed the service train slightly and we wouldn't want the dozen or so passengers on the single car 153 delayed by the 350-ish passengers on a charter, would we?

Missed out the stop at Llangennech on the return and arrived at Port Talbot over half an hour early.
