Very nice frame Stuart but I must say a strange headboard for a journey North of the border.

Even more so with a Scottish owner who was also on the footplate!

Although Carnforth did a similar trick with the "Scot" on "The Fellsman" in June.........LINK

My video take on Day 1 is at:

I had this daft idea of taking a couple of reasonably close shots and a couple to show the atmosphere of a misty, drizzly, low cloud day up in the wilds hoping the exhaust would be enough for the camera to retain focus!! Actually looks better than it seemed - though still murky.

Footage from day one with shots from Shap Wells (forest), Shap Summit, approaching Lockerbie, climbing Beattock, leaving Beattock Summit, and Carstairs. A sparkling performance from loco and crew well on top of the job.

Thanks Ralph. Yes a busy old day, the drive home was long (and dark - what happened to the summer?) but well worth it.

Indeed....I've always liked that very plucky loco.......easy to see why Mr Cameron thinks the same......

I've posted this in the 46115 thread as well, 61994 - whilst heading south on the climb to Shap - is being followed by 46115 by only 3 minutes. Quite something in the year 2013, that two consecutive trains climbing Shap, are steam hauled.

Lovely stuff Stephen. Haven't you just captured something rare - i.e. two loco hauled trains on the same route heading in the same direction and a few minutes apart? When did that last happen up north, if it ever did?
