I have to confess I like 34053 and look forward to the return of 34027 . The SVR at least lets then haul a reasonable load and stretch themselves and a named engine is always an attraction for the public . Reading first hand accounts suggests its coal consumption isn't excessive and its not going to wear itself out like a smaller engine would

No I do not currently volunteer
I plan my visit to when skp is running not many other places to see locos of that type on a reasonable load I have been told the same by volunteers at the SVR that coal consumption is not as bad as most people think.

I see a certain magazine is suggesting the SVR is considering to sell 45110...

The "Kids for a quid" was only one example where that blew up in their face. Some bright spark forgot to limit the number of kids per full adult fare. The rest should have been "bleedin' obvious".

I seem to remember that secondary spend (gift shop and buffets) didn't see a vast increase went it ran so it didn't actually do much good. And yes, it was idiotic not to limit it. The idea was vaguely right, execution poor. Oh well, next time...

The problem is, Even if the SVR were going sell 45110. Someone has to want to buy her and Ian Riley cant buy them all!
I can see pressure being put on the company once 4930 is finished in the next few years.

Having read it today, it appears as if someone just made it up to fill space. There's no news there, just a few known facts and someone guessing what might happen.

Pressure to do what? - the loco is an SVRH asset

Exactly, and while people will ask when is it going to done, it is up to the plc when it is done.
When it goes in the engine house, I wonder if a display about the fifteen guinea special and 45110's role could be put up (maybe even a collection tin...;)) as would be good and help interest in the loco.

I don't think anyone would deny the fact that the loco is an SVR(H) asset and the company could theoretically do what it chooses. However, one should also consider the company was pressured to rethink the plans for Bridgnorth and the consequences of Plan A. The lions (as GFG likes to refer to them) forced the donkeys (his term again) to change course.
On a more positive theme: -
The 1T57 cachet is something far more marketable than yet another green engine carrying a nameplate. Expanding Kje7812's suggestion 45110 could form the centre-piece of a Joe-public friendly display running until 2018 (and maybe beyond) about the conversion of the UK's railway network to other motive power. There would be no shortage of quality photographs and movie footage.

And how much cash would "no shortage of quality photographs and movie footage" bring in?

Well, hard to quantify but it would be change from what is currently on display in the engine house which after a couple of visits is actually quite dull.
Anyway, the following was posted on Bridgnorth Station's facebook page an hour or so ago:

Really? - marketable to whom? - well perhaps to you it is but, whilst all we enthusiasts realise that 45110 was amongst the last in service, that won't cut a lot of ice with those of a generation post 1968 when compared now with an attractive locomotive in a less boring colour than black, sporting some polished brass & copper with an authentic name.
It is telling that there is insufficient interest from LM fans that nobody has taken the trouble to start a "friends of 45110" group similar to 4930. So where would any meaningfull pressure come from?

I note you deleted the crucial segment of my post without acknowledgement of its presence thus removing a significant part of its meaning.

Further, I'll not be drawn to indulge in the tribalism that exists between those LMS and GWR devotees that you appear to.

A marketing department that is worth its salt should be able to create a display that highlights the transition from steam (modernisation) and the impact (for good and for bad) that it had on the railway workforce and society in general. How many people live in or close to areas where there was once huge railway works or locomotive sheds? How many stories are there within the story? I could go on.........

I'm sure John Leach would have seen the opportunity. Whether or not Clare Gibbard is able create that "Joe-public friendly" display remains to be seen.

michaelh's comment above about a "1T57 display" for 45110 in the Engine House is a bit negative. I agree you cannot relate that sort of thing directly to cash generation, but those running the EH will realise they need to change displays regularly otherwise the public will lose interest. Information boards with some written and photgraphic information about the "end of BR steam" in 1968 and what has followed, will not cost the earth to produce, and will relate to a Black 5 that is just a bit special in terms of it's history.
70013 borrowed during a slack period and parked outside the EH would complement the story quite nicely......ok, one can hope....!

Agree entirely that such a display would add interest to those already visiting the EH, but my point was that it would be unlikely to produce many visitors - and ticket sales - over and above those who were visiting anyway. You say that the public will lose interest - but do people pay to visit the EH to see what's changed? I've never got that impression from those I overhear on the train, other obviously than the enthusiasts. It's special exhibitions rather than routine changes which draw in extras.

I hope the EH will be focussing next year on the role of railways in the Great War.

I've heard rumour of an event weekend on the Great War, but we shall have to wait and see what happens.

And that would need great care and sensitivity given the huge loss of life that took place in WW1.

A service and quiet respect shown around the SVR loco that is a dedicated War Memorial, but an "event weekend" ? No surely not.

Can't talk for the original poster but can understand that 'event' may be badly worded and if there was an event weekend, then hopefully more likely to be a rememberance one. Either way fundamentally, weren't there huge losses of life in WW2, which affected everyone in the country as well but in a different way ? Seem to recollect two 'event' weekends very heavily based around this period.....
