yes it was 34105 running as SWC, it caught out more than a few, i know this for sure, because one of the times she ran as 34051, i was fireman on her, it was fun,, only one person didnt fall for it, wrong tender , and wrong style of cab lining, she also ran at this time as 34067 on at least one occation.

A unrebuilt light pacific looks so much better with a high sided tender in my opinion.

I always liked the high sided because it was all i knew in the 50's but then in 1959/60 i suddenly saw 34068 Kenley with cut down tender on a Boat Train at Folkestone Junction, the first i had seen with this alteration. Well; i didn't quite know what to make of it at first but as time went by and suddenly Tangmere turned up with one too i started to like the idea of having two distinct types of tender, and of course we knew pretty quickly which Loco's had the cutdowns and we could identify them from a long way away. Now i'm not really fussed either way as long as the Loco' in front of the tender is a Bulleid !

Latest 35006 update now on gwsr.com this only goes up until the summer and so I can add that having looked at it today (wed 2nd oct) that work is now focusing on the steam pipes which require the lower sections replacing. Looking really good now as more and more bits get added.

I caught a glimpse of it (or part of it) through an open door at the rear of the shed on a recent visit, and spoke to a chap from the loco dept who said that the smoke deflector plates have now arrived too. Great to think it won't be too much longer before this long restoration project is finally complete. 2014 would be a very appropriate year for 35006 to steam, as it marks 50 years since the loco was withdrawn.

34092 is looking substantially complete, having seen and cabbed it at the recent KWVR gala. It has been refitted with Giesl ejector, but on the plus side, it now has the high-sided tender. Popped the golden question, and the answer was 'Christmas'. Whether this year or the next year, take your pick, but suffice to say, the cab is almost completely fitted-out and much of the pipework appears to be in place.

Thanks for the update. It will be good to see this fine loco back in service. Hopefully it will be Christmas this year, and not 2014!

I hope 'yogz' isn't now hanging from a nearby signal for daring to publish photos taken inside Carnforth!

A quick search shows that he seems to have a free run at Carnforth with many shots of the diesel fleet and cars. His name is also not to difficult to find. Official photographer?
