Held two level crossings up from stowmarket (CO329 ?) for 5 mins just had a stonking good start and flew through the station blowing off. Not too many people out watching tonight.

Now confirmed

Train being platformed at Witham.

 

2137 stopped witham, many passengers detaining.

 

Marks Tay loop yard entrance was locked. Crew was unable to take water, we passed the fire engine by the station.

Now platformed at Witham Plat1, support crew looking for a hydrant.

47501 on northern belle just passed heading east.

A good day all round until I get in and hear the news. So glad I caught the 6.30 from Norwich. I'll keep looking and hope all goes well for last trains etc.

 

Passengers are now being transferred to the 10pm to Liverpool st.

Fire engine arrived and started taking water but reality it was too late for everyone's connections.
The train is pretty much empty and just lucky the 321 unit was an 8 car service as its now full.

Fantastic day sad end, the story goes the network rail guy didn't arrive to unlock the gates, or the other story was the station cannot find the key.
