Yesterday I called in at Caverswall Road for my usual Sunday afternoon pint or six, and I found the bar was firmly shut with a big chain around the door handles. As I stood there bemused a bloke walking past who I assumed to be staff told me it has closed for good.

Since I got a residents discount card earlier this year I've been using it as my local at weekends. It's a shame if it's closed especially after it won the Camra pub of the month in September, and I would much rather give my beer money to Foxfield than some faceless pub company.

Can any Foxfield members here shed any light on this?

There's a bit on Facebook dated 15th that is cryptic to outsiders. It is a farewell from the landlady (I presume), whose departure one assumes prompted the closure of the pub. A further message could read that she was possibly pushed rather than left willingly? But as I say, all a bit cryptic from afar.

AFAIK the bar will be reopening soon under new management. I will endeavour to find out more.

I was aware she was leaving, but as I don't use Facebook I haven't seen those comments. It would be a great pity if the local community lost such a good place because of some internal squabble.

Hope you are right, looking forward to more news. It was the "closed for good" comment from a member that got me concerned.

    Update on the situation...

'The bar will be open this coming weekend (26/27 November) for a caravan rally and then will be closed until the end of November for stock taking and maintenance. It will reopen along the same lines as previously with a new manager and a view to develop on its success.'
