I'm not usually a fan of BR liveries, especially on locos that never carried them in service...but I have to concede that looks rather smart!

Dare I ask whether she is actually running again, or is there more still to do?

Personally I would rather have seen it in a US line livery, PRR or NYC maybe.

Hopefully like the CVR ones, won't win any beauty prizes but makes the ears bleed.

This thread just got more interesting!

Although it is interesting to see the total lack of indignation at a loco being painted in 'the wrong' livery, have the fundamentalists gone into hibernation waiting for 4472? ;)

I assume from the photo that one of those hoses hanging from the buffer beam is for steam heat, does that make it a mixed traffic loco now? If so, shouldn't it be in lined black? Would look rather good I think.

Not sure I agree - I find big chunky workhorses as attractive as the clean lines of a passenger thoroughbred.

As to livery there is a big choice given they worked all over Europe and several Asian countries- and not all black . I have seen them in brown and other colours in India.

I'm told it was done for a bit of fun, and that she'll stay in BR livery for one month for every complaint they receive about it.

Here is as good a place as any... whilst you still can. Maybe 'Rio Turbio' on the tender next;)
If the Mods ( those mods, not these mods) are effective she wont be making anybodies ears bleed at least...

I'd like like to add my voice to say it looks awful. If I repeat the post does that result in two months extension?

    I bloody well hope so!!!

It may only be a coat of paint - ( which is all you really ever see of a locomotive) - but it looks superb!! If I revert this post into a whinging trainspotter moan, is that worth another month??

    Cheers

Well, if all of us on here "complained" then she'd stay like that to the end of her ticket!......................................... :)
