My daughter spotted two black steam locos in Kings Cross this afternoon where some filming was taking place.
    Anybody know it was?
Just curious really (she always seems to spot steam locos on her travels whereas I hardly see any these days :( ).

    From SE-gen yahoo group:

45231 in P4 (unable to see coaches)
    44932 in P5 with 99312 99304 4973 4984

Lots of people taking pictures and smoke (coming from a machine not the
locos!), filming new film starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Excellent thanks, I knew someone here would know!
Cucumberpatch seems to be in everything these days. I'm guessing it's the Alan Turing biopic as that's in production just now.

Not surprising given his talent, played an excellent villain in Star Trek.

Even on a Sunday they did well to get two platforms at Kings Cross, or is it a case of money talks ?.

... this was scouted at and very nearly filmed at Epping Ongar Railway (www.railwayforhire.co.uk) but they decided they had the money to "go mainline"...)

Funnily enough I was at one of the sets for this on tuesday, salvaging some lookalike ww2 buildings in flat pack form! I think they were going in the skip otherwise. Watch this space to see what they end up as...

No won't be until next July. Hadn't even thought of Santa!

We've got plans to rebuild them in different forms but I'll doubtless start a thread for it nearer the time.

I like your style. I used to work in movies and TV and was always stunned by the waste. Terry Gilliam famously reused bits of set for Jabberwocky and just kept redressing it.

Getting back to trains I'm assuming Kings X was standing in for wartime Euston, being the main station for Bletchley and all that? Mind you with the attention to detail of most movies when it comes to trains possibly not.
Off the top of my head viz the Robert Powell 39 Steps set in 1914 but with a 1940's train!
