hi everyone, has anyone got any information about this vintage trains railtour on november 23rd?

 

Nothing apart from the fact that I'm booked on it (an interesting cross country tour to tick off my steam map of Britain), it was booking quite well, and that the loco will now be 5043, probably due to gauging difficulties related to the 49xx.

 

thanks for that, i plan to film it at ely when it arrives and if not too late departing

 

Loco change? At this time I still have 4965 on the roster board......If that changes officially I will let everyone know.

 

Probably because UKSteam has 4965 greyed out & 5043 in bold.

Fair enough, I was only saying a possible scenario. Not my own opinion.

 

I think what doesn't help is some other operators websites don't tend to get updated, even if changes have been well known for some time, so there's a tendency to mistrust the websites write up, even though Vintage are generally on the money with theirs.

 

now on uksteaminfo it has "4965/5043" in bold so it could be either one

well, which ever engine it is, i cant wait go film it at ely.

 

ok, according to realtimetrains, the 1Z50 is meant to arrive at 1144 at ely and depart at 1522 so i might get it arriving and departing if i stay at the station.

 

would anyone know where the train would move to after it arrives or would it stay at the station

Officially we are switching locos from 4965 to 5043 "Earl of Mount Edgcumbe" for this one. There is an issue with Hall-class locos in the gauging computer that we are working to rectify. Unfortunately, we will not have the hiccup resolved in time to clear the Hall for this route.

So if anyone wants to join us for a run behind the Castle - it's first to Ely in preservation....has it ever been to Ely?

We have some space in all classes except dining.
