It doesn't rule it out though, it says more investigation work is required.

The only investigation work they will do is ask local people, like the bloke who lives in the crossing keeper's cottage whose lawn extends over the track, Churnet Valley Action Group and the Churnet Valley Riders what they think.

Indeed. The masterplan shows they ask everyone inc Local Business. The quote used with the document is "further work is needed to confirm deliverability and viability and how any conflicts with existing users, local amenity and ecological interests can be addressed."

Despite the Masterplan indicates talks have taken place with MCR and Alton Towers plus other businesses?

I have been present at consultation meetings as part of the most recent phase of the Masterplan transport strategy consultation where MCR and CVR were represented and where these issues were specifically discussed so I've no idea where the above comment comes from!

MCR's Facebook page has replied to my question about the land sale at Leekbrook Junction, saying that the trackbed of the former North-East chord - which formed a through run from Leek to Waterhouses/Cauldon Low - has been retained and that they have recently cleared it of all overgrowth. Only the sidings site is being sold for development. They say they intend to relay track on the chord next year. Are there any photos of this work?

As for relaying to Alton, it would be a single track on one side of the former double track formation, creating an Avon Valley Railway shared alignment set-up. Surely not all the walkers would object to this? As for the guy whose lawn crosses the track, CPO? And the Landmark Trust, who own Alton station, surely an agreement with them can be reached allowing its reopening, if that is the route MCR wish to take. Personally I believe they should, the station is intact, and with 12-coach length platforms (with a 10-coach bay) should be more than adequate for both theirs and the CVR's needs. It could even allow the re-construction of the demolished buildings on platform 2...... The station's value as a holiday let will surely be affected by the railway's reopening anyway, and this must have occurred to the trust I would think?

MCR don't have a Facebook page. The page you refer to is an unofficial page set up by a local enthusiast, though he has granted some of us CVR volunteers admin access so that we can provide information where we can in order to answer some questions.

The trees were cleared over the summer, and the results can be seen from the train. Not got any pics of my own though so can't help with that one.

So..... if the North-East chord is relaid, that will result in a triangle which would mean that any visiting railtour engines would be able to turn-around - once the link to Stoke has been re-opened of course! Good news methinks!

I don't know who is surveying this site, first it was five acres of land now it is nine acres and the cattle market is now only half a mile from the town centre.

According to Goole Maps it's a mile from the site to the Market - which to me is central Leek?

I would have thought that the building land in question would be something like a football pitch in triangular form which would be more like 1 1/2 acres, or does this include the entire triangle? The bit where the shed used to be is at a higher level than the sidings so I would imagine that would be safe from the builders. If they are serious about putting 89 houses on that small bit of land then it will be something like a Bangalore slum when finished.
