Many of you may remember in the past I have collated a list of special events for the forthcoming year and posted. After a break of a few years I have spent some time collating a list for 2014. Some railways have not finalised dates and are not confirmed yet and as thus not included.

Hopefully, the obvious omissions (Bluebell, B&WR, SDR, KWVR, NVR, NNR etc. ) and not so obvious omissions will be added once they have published their plans for next year?

Foxfield galas 19th & 20th July and 27th & 28th September, plus a coal train day which I assume should be on Sunday 30th March rather than Wednesday 30th April (Rich?).

 

Not a gala but there may be interest in SVR Peep Behind the Scenes event on July 19 when areas not normally open to the public are on show

I was told that the Llangollen Railway's Spring Steam Gala was on the first weekend of April? 4th to the 6th April.

 

11th to 13th April is the dates I was sent from the office at Llangollen, who sent me over the 2014 Fares and Event sheet.

 

I heard it was the first weekend.

 

Apologies, Looks like it is the 4th-6th looking at the timetable page on the website which shows the first weekend as a special event. Just sent an email to double check with the office to be sure and will post back when they've confirmed.

Excitingly the timetable page also has been updated with the Corwen timetables, peak two train timetable, six trains a day with roughly an 1hr15 between trains.

 

Thanks for that. I e-mailed the office back in October to get dates of the Gala's. Thanks for the PDF events list by the way.

 

Just had word back from the office, and they confirmed date of 4th-6th. One other error in original Llangollen listings is the 60th Anniversary of Railcars event is on the 4th/5th October, not sharing with Thomas as original indicated.

South Devon Railway events for 2014 are as follows;

Also new for 2014 are Branch Line Days. On these dates services will be worked by shorter traditional branch line style trains. Three round trips per day with services running half term week in February, most weekends in March and three Friday's in October. These services will be steam worked, except for Saturdays in March when Diesel Railcar W55000 operates, and it is hoped for the October dates to be operated by auto train as 6412 is expected back in service by then.

 

Cheers for that. Also had a glimpse at Steam Railway magazine this morning, and it also has that date in an article regarding the announcement of the two guest engines they have already booked.
