Very pleased to be able to say that London Transport Old Comrades Association are representing the fallen of LPTB railways, these are the very distinguished gentlemen who march past the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day. I think this is the first time that the railway staff from the Big Four, LT, the Royal Engineers and passengers have all been commemorated together.

    It does say this underneath...

Editors note: You can write in if you like, but Sir William was the Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer of the Great Western, and designed these glorious engines when his boss was away after losing his wife, an event that affected him deeply and meant he was absent from Swindon for many months.

Later Stanier would move to the LMS – then the largest joint stock company in the world and a bigger employer than the Royal Navy – and bless us with his Black 5, Jubilee, Princess Coronations and the glorious rest of ‘em. But it all began with the Castle Class...

Watch it.....No not claiming the Castle, it was just an apprentice practice piece before the proper locos that the LMS allowed him to build..

Just to emphasise that we are very big fans of Sir William's work, here is a picture of his very gorgeous 5043 in all his glory (although the double chimney is not by Stanier) and the more delicate Kitten von Mew, who will be performing her very special 1940s Fan Dance at the end of the Remembrance & Railways event in the historic Gloucester Guilhall (also not designed by Stanier) which comprises just part of the Steaming to Victory trip on 6 June.

Kitten-von-Stanier-Mew with her Louis Le Stanier Vuitton suitcase. 5043 adorned in a non-Stanier livery, but powered by coal discovered by Stanier and dug (using a Stanier invented steam-powered shovel) (note..Stanier invented BOTH steam AND the shovel) from the Stanier Colliery in Staniersville, Staniershire.

Maybe we should just take an A4 instead?

Apologies for the thread bump but does anyone know when any timings for this tour will be released?

There won't be any timings...'cos it isn't running. It turned out to be a very bad call on my part, and didn't sell at all. But if you don't try, you never know...

If this tour hadn't of been a few weeks after the Llandudno tour & a week before the WSR trip, it would of sold. Shame it couldn't of run from London, the market is lot bigger down there.

I doubt it, Steam Dreams usually refuse to believe there is life outside the M25 so London is well catered for with tours, plus Bob and co don't like overnighting away from Tyseley too often (you can't be in the workshops when overnighting at Laira afterall).

Marcus is on most trips together with other Steam Dreams staff, so it is likely they would overnight accomodation if they started further out than they do now, and there would be the time spent travelling( rather than running the business).

So similar reasons why VT never wander far from Birmingham starts.
