It does, not that the whole post lends much to credibility anyway. Why can't the person post it on the forum themselves?

Presumably the person concerned would be in hot water if certain people knew who he was, I'd have thought you of all people would appreciate that Neil.

Incidentally, just because it references messaging me, doesn't mean it's a private message on Nat Pres...

Perhaps he/she shouldn't be posting anything if he/she has something to hide.

So you'd come on here and say something against NR if you were aware someone above you is watching it and would be less than happy you said it publicly ?, even if it's worth knowing ?.

As mentioned, I'm passing on a message as requested, if that displeases you then boo bloody hoo, I've done something for someone as a favour so can do without the continued attitude from you which I'm getting somewhat p***ed off at now.

Err, no I wouldn't. And that's precisely the point. If this person wants to make a 'revelation' then he/she should have the courage to do it under their own name, risking the consequences of their actions, or simply not bother.

So it's fair the FGW lady gets it in the neck until this message saying it was NR's call ?, why should a bloke risk his job for telling the the truth ?, says all we need to know about you if you think she should be painted as the villain for no good reason or he deserves the sack for defending her.

But if MK was the start point then probably there would be several stewards joining there as a matter of routine, having stayed overnight in the area, it's the way it happens for those who do not travel on the ECS.

This one drove from home at least 2 hour drive from memory.I only remember one joining there, might have been one on the ECS.

I did a couple of PMR tours starting there, it meant two nights cheap hotel plus train fares...
If the train started from there then a full compliment of stewards, at least a dozen, would be required from there.

With modern technology it should be possible to communicate information to passengers at joining stations via the PA system without the need for a physical presence of any kind. The problem here seems to be one of a communication breakdown between NR, the TOC and the Tour Promoter. Business as usual in other words !

I suspect there is a literal reading of each others posts taking place that isn't helping . Not everyone has a desire to be a member of NP and I've posted information supplied via e-mail onto this and other forums where relevant from people who are not and who don't want to join here .

the downside obviously is that you have to a degree anonymous information and said information may then be viewed in that light. If anything the comment re the guard could have been edited out but then again hindsight is a wonderful thing

To be honest, It's the seeming shooting of the messenger (IE me), combined with the earlier condescension from the same person that has my back up, I know your trying to keep the peace, but I don't think I'm out of order in not standing for it.

Quite simply because that is what we were told to do! There was zero information available at Filton and no way of getting in touch with RTC. I didn't speak directly to the guard on the unit but from what I can gather it might have been the signaller that made the decision. In many ways it made sense. The line could have been shut for hours and Bristol Parkway has staff, heated waiting room, toilets, coffee shop etc. The crucial detail that was missed was to ensure we were sent back before the steam tour departed Temple Meads. It actually departed just as out unit arrived at Bristol Parkway.

RTC compounded the problem by showing little interest in finding out what went wrong. We gave them ample opportunity to explain themselves on the day and I've emailed them since. They haven't replied. After the incident at Shrewsbury there was no information from RTC staff for nearly an hour. There is simply no excuse for this. Like 6024, it's very unlikely that I will be going on another trip with RTC if this is how they respond when things go wrong.

I wasn't on this trip, but I was horrified to read here about the appalling treatment of the Filton passengers. I have emailed RTC, asking them what they're doing to prevent anything like that from happening again. I already have one booking for next year and, in the ordinary course of events, would be likely to book further trips sooner or later, but that will depend on what they say.

PS - human nature being what it is, I'm afraid they may be more concerned with squabbling about who should get the blame than with responding to their customers.

No, not to "complain". To state that I was horrified by what I had read (which I was, and am) and (as a customer on past and future occasions) to ask them what they are doing to stop it happening again.

Not sure what Rtc could do to stop the line being closed or first asking people to board a train that was not going to a suitable station.

Have an emergency phone number that is manned by someone on the train who knows what is going on, would be a good start.
