Not to be confused with the VT Christmas White Rose to York the same day!

 

For once the forecast was right. Nice colour in the sky as 60009 crosses Digswell Viaduct soon after departing Welwyn Garden City. She is working the Christmas White Rose from Kings Cross to York. 14-12-2013.

I drove up to Welwyn North and saw the promise of the dawn sky over the viaduct, and I though I hope someone gets a good photo of that.

 

Always worth a shot at Welwyn North as they are always shifting there.

 

I noted on UK Steam that No.9 was due to spend some time at "York Wharehouse Annex" this afternoon. Should that read "York Warehouse Annex" or "York Whorehouse Annex"? I think we should be told!

 

And of course, the thing with those A4s is they never go our without their visor down, so you couldn't tell whether it it was working the return with a smile on its smokebox door

Yes, they usually give them some stick on that section.

 

Very nice shot Ian! Was nice to catch her at the "Cross" on her return too, since I was otherwise on a train going into London at the time she crossed Digswell.

I'm struggling to remember if I have ever photographed steam at KX before and I can't recall having ever done so.....

 

Nowt better than an A4 at the Cross Tim. Good catch.

 

I was taken there trainspotting by big brother Don once in the early 1960s.

But only because Childline didn't exist then and he could get away with it.

 

I found a lens cap after 60009 had pasted yesterday lunch time at colton, send me a message if you have saying what make and size and I ll send it onto you.
