And there was me thinking that they might have filmed it on the GCR. No matter, still looking forward to watching the two dramas.

The GCR doesn't have any suitable rail over road bridges.

Is the film using 37075 as a stand in for D326? That would be the usual attention to detail and concern for accuracy that dramatic productions give to engineering.

Indeed, when there must be a green type 40 available.

Surprising they didn't take "artistic licence" and use a steam loco, "to make it look more dramatic..." etc etc

Absolutetly! What do we pay our TV licence for when this is the sort of shabby attention to detail we get? As you say, they should have got a green Class 40, arranged with Network Rail to close the WCML at the correct location and taken the overhead wires down. All actors involved should have had plastic surgery to ensure that they look exactly like the person they are portraying..

And why couldn't they use the actual money which they stole from the train. Oh, hang on ...

Maybe they'll over-dub the sound of the 37 on the final soundtrack. They're sure to have something suitable from their sound library - like a Deltic.

Electrification work was under way at the time; most of the kit was in place at Cheddington but not connected.

What you failed to report is that the clip is about Yorkshire, once again at the top and leading the way in yet another industry.. .. Film settings.

I seem to remember the ELR did the Great Train Robbery quite recently and with a Type 4.

Well, they used D335 I seem to think (although I only saw clips, so I may be wrong), but the CGI "Blue Western" and "Mark 1 EMU" hauled stock in one of the "big station" shots wasn't too close to any reality that wasn't induced by illegal substances! That said, i do think it looks good when a shot taken a a real station is put into a bigger station by CGI, even if many such sequences don't really survive examination of the DVD frame by frame (not of the trains passed in the title sequence of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe move - and neither does any steam coming out of their locos!)

Can't be as bad as the black & white Sherlock Holmes, starring Basil Rathbone, that I caught sight of on TV the other night. I wasn't paying attention but I did note that they were on a train to Scotland headed by some German loco!
