2014 Events Listings

Midland Railway Butterley's Spring Steam Gala on 8th/9th March added.

 

Welshpool's Gala on 30th/31st August added (along with their Vintage Train dates).

 

Added North Norfolk, Dean Forest and Rushden Transport Museum events.

Meanwhile, on the 2'0" gauge, the enthusiast-focussed events at the Apedale Valley Light Railway will be May 11 - Classic Cars day, July 12 - Industry Trains and finally the Narrow Gauge Event of 2014 (he said, modestly) - Tracks to the Trenches, the WW1 commemoration event - September 12, 13 and 14.
We start the running season on April 12, and will run every Saturday and Bank Holiday, plus some Sundays, with regular steam traction. 2014 should see, with a fairly gentle following wind, three working steam engines resident at Apedale. Do come along and say hello.

I don't know if any more are planned, but to my eyes these are the main "enthusiast" events:

Plus the enforced diesel running 18/19 Jan; 25/26 Jan; 1/2 Feb; between HK and EG only.

There is also a two week long "Summer Festival" from Saturday July 26th until Sunday August 10th. Explained as "A host of activities at each of our stations including garden tours of Gravetye Manor, visits to Chailey Windmill, local town, village and Church tours plus much more. Check our website from April 2014". I suspect that follows on from the style of our of our opening festival, combining (and building links) with the local community. Whether it means an enhanced train service I don't know. (The timetable leaflet implies a special timetable).
