This was talked about just after I left and it's sad to see it being seriously considered some 15 years on. The complex is one of the more complete accessible pits, including the overbridge, the tub run and the workshops. I feel a letter coming on.

Wonder how this might affect the railway at the site.

I would suspect the exchange sidings site over the level crossing would go . I can't believe they would sacrifice the existing exhibition halls but you may also see some of the land east of the weighbridge go

I'd be sad to see this excellent facility diminished. It really does have something for everyone, both our girls used to love it and we were back there recently with our friends for an event. Am I hallucinating, or was there once an extravagant plan to extend the Shackerstone line to there?

There was a plan around 1996/7 to link up with Shackerstone, but by the time I started there in 1999 this was already diminishing into the past.

For 'Snibston' insert the name of any similar location that relies on national or local government funding to survive. Recent threads on this forum have mentioned problems at Crewe, Dudley and Darlington to mention just three. Closures and cut backs are inevitable.
