Oooo, very interesting. Would this be the NG15 that left the WHHR a few years back? I guess the BMR's Kalahari could be in the shed at Pontiscill, but i seem to remember somone saying that was unlikely.

I believe the NG15 situation is as follows:

    120 Franco/Belge 2667/1951 was WHHR "Beddgelert"
121 F/B 2668/1951 VoR Heritage stock was at BMR Pontsticil now believed to be in Surrey
    133 F/B 2683/1952 WHR(C)
    134 F/B 2684/1952 WHR(C)
    135 F/B 2685/1952 Exmoor Steam
146 Henschel 29587/1957 VoR Heritage stock Surrey

If anyone can add to the above info re whereabouts of 120; if 121 is at Loxhill or ?;or any other info I would be pleased to hear of it.

I live in a small village a few miles to the south of Surrey - I'll not say where exactly for obvious reasons - but round the back of a barn in the village are at least two NG15s. Visible from a public path, they seem to be being worked on very gently. The barn contains some other items being actively worked on. The reason I say at least two is that on is very clear - boiler on frames - but there is a set of frames without the boiler (I think that may be in the barn) and then several large lumpy objects under tarpaulins. So certainly 2 possibly 3.

So presumably somewhere in the South Downs area then, around Midhurst, Pulborough etc? If this is Collection X related, thats a very interesting development... although one that doesnt exactly make its whereabouts any clearer.

The latest issue of Steam Railway states that the BMR's extension to Torpantau will open in April. This is a bit out of the blue so is there any truth in the story?

It will be interesting to see trains at Torpantau again .
Just thinking when the B & M built the original station they did'nt even build a fireplace in the signalbox ,a cold and inhospitable place in winter .....
Still its just right for a tourist railway with fantastic scenery.

Can anybody remember the title of a BBC children's drama serial which was set at the BMR? Would have been broadcast in the mid-80s. I've been trying to track it down for ages.

It was said a while ago that the extension wouldn't open till one of the new Baldwin projects was finished, as two high powered engines would be needed. Presumably if the extension is to open later this year one of them must be - does anyone know which it is?

It will be the ex-Mogiana Railway Santa Theresa. I saw her in the workshops myself when I visited the BMR last year, whereas there was no sign of the new-build locos. The BMR website page for the replica SRRL "Forney" says that "it is expected to start construction of the boiler in early 2014"; as for the replica SRRL No. 23, "work is well advanced but it will be some years yet before this project is finished".

Are you sure it was the BMR ?, I remember one on kids TV from around that time, which I've since found out was filmed at the Puffing Billy in Oz.

I can't remember the name of the programme but they called the railway 'Beacon Mountain Railway'.

Part of the storyline involved extending the railway through a tunnel and part of the story was set in Hong Kong (but I can't remember why!).
