Yes, they will but unfortunately the road will be on the north curve of the triangle.

Just to clarify that you're referring to the Portsmouth triangle?

Silly me, I misread the last line to be referring to the Leekbrook triangle.

OK - still not clear what you mean. In black and white - are you saying that the MCR intent to build houses on Leek Brook Jnc north curve??

No, a road. What we can't tell from the plans is whether this is to be single or double carriageway, even if it is only single, how can a road share a trackbed with a railway line on a double trackbed? Where would the fence go? I see also the plans include lots of trees right on the edge of the railway, surely they would have to go?

Ahh! No the new road for the houses beside the N-E Chord is basically around the location of the former loco shed that once stood there, which is not on the embankment of the Chord.

The plans though clearly show a single track line on N-E and S-E Chords, with double track only being present on the N-S Chord after the Level Crossing for the Sewage Works.

No, if you look again there is a road/driveway leading to the house on the right side, otherwise it would be land locked. The triangle was double track on all three sides but the plan shows encroachment on both the down cauldon and the up Leek line. Presumably that being so, there will have to be a big palisade fence somewhere in the old six foot.

I can't see a problem. MCR only need a single line on the north side as shown on the plan. I'm sure that the garden length will be adjusted, if necessary, at the detailed design stage.

Clog and Knocker seems determined to misconstrue what is shown perfectly clearly on the notional outline layout. Double track space is preserved on the Churnet main line with single track on the south to east and the north to east curves.

We've given C&K the benefit of the doubt in the past, but following his latest spoiler I am forced to the conclusion that he is indeed nothing more that an embittered troll whose only desire is to see us fail in our endeavours to breath life into this valuable and historic infrastructure. So come clean, and tell us what your problem is Mr Knocker.

For those who are genuinely interested in our progress, here are a few pics of the results of our labours over the last few weeks building a new loop at Ipstones.

Yep, It'll probably be finished by next week. We Need it ready for a Driver Experience Course with 34007 on Feb8, which looks like we'll easily meet. We have been lucky though it's not been a harsh winter (yet!). Hopefully stays that way till after Gala lol

Interesting tangent but have just read in a book from my library [The North Staffordsire Railway - A history of the Line and its Locomotives by "Manifold"] that the platforms at Leekbrook Junction included a bay platform for trains to Cheddleton Asylum - a private line worked by OHL !

Interesting to know (a) where it was located (b) the length of line (c) whiter remains today and (d) the dates of opening / closure.

    a) As shown in above links
    b) Ditto
    c) Not really. You can still trace it's route if you know what you are looking but there not much left. Even at Leek Brook, with the platform now being moved as part of the CVLLP the original platform is no longer in it's original position.
    4) As above
