This is my first posting on the forum and hope to have some great times on here and also hopefully get some information etc from any other members.

We are about to start work on a Andrew Barclay 0-6-0DH loco and were wondering if there are any technical drawings available anywhere and any manuals, we are willing to pay any costs for a copy of anything any member has.

    Thanks for any help

We have just started the restoration of Andrew Barclay No486/Meaford No4 which is fitted with a Rolls Royce C8SFL engine, and was wondering if anyone can help us with some details on this engine relating especially to best grade of oil and capacity.

Thanks for any help with info anyone can provide.

We have tried but for some reason whenever I try to use the contact us page on his website it never works, and says message failed to send. Thanks for the suggestion :)

I had the same problem BUT then went to the Weekend Blog [link at Page Bottom] and the E-mail from there elicited a response; I have passed on the detail from this site BUT if you wish to try on your own behalf it may help. Hope this helps as it seems Andrew's site has a faulty link from the home page but not the site page

    Hi scaniaking,
My dad owns AB 615 currently at Aln valley railway its fitted with a C8TFL engine (turbocharged instead of super charged) we have the manual for it and its sisters I could see if we can get a copy for you might help.
I cant remember of by heart what oil we use but will find out, you'll find some parts can be bought of the truck market, also rolls Royce (we rung them and they said they have parts) If the engine is the same size as ours, then we worked out each cylinder is about a 1.6 - 1.8 litre.
I'm guessing that Meaford no4 will probably share commonality with 615, but here is a few shots of 615's engine see if its layout is similar (hopefully photos work).
I will try get a copy of the manual for you and get more technical details and help anyway I can.

No I do not currently volunteer
When I wanted some drawings for my Barclay diesel I contacted Hunslet-Barclay (now Brush-Barclay) - they replied very promptly to tell me that all their ancient records are now archived with Glasgow University, who themselves were extremely helpful - this won't be much use for the engine but they may have other drawings related to the loco as a whole. They have engineering records dating from 1878 - 1970, and their website is www.gla.ac.uk/archives.

We are progressing fairly well with the restoration of this loco, but are struggling to find replacement rear engine mount pads for this loco, if anyone has any spares we can purchase or knows of a supplier can they please get in touch, any info received will be very grateful.

If we cannot find any the other option is to have someone make new mountings, but would like to exhaust all avenues before going down this line. I have included the page from the engine manual showing the parts of the mounts and it is items 8 & 9 which we are looking for.

    Thanks
    Tony
