Yes she's very good, better than me when she puts the effort into railway photography! I'll pass your comment on. :)

Thinking of Parking at Blackburn and getting the service train to Preston to pick this up so i can get straight off from Blackburn on the return...no experience of Blackburn station and its parking, is this feasible ?

Since Wednesday's test run went great, I have a high expectation that 45699 shall put in a great performance tomorrow. Have fun!:)

Great records from all the hardy souls that ventured out today. Appreciation is deserved from those of us who were easily deterred.

Nice to see the weather was consistent on Shap again yesterday, last week was terrible and didn't look much better for 45699 either!

Top effort again for those who ventured out.

So full marks to 981smithy for actually finding some sunshine for his sequence !

I have to say that - given the weather forecast and cost of diesel - I didn't join the throng on Shap but rested content with seeing it on the test run earlier in the week; commiserations or congratulations to those who did venture out.

A few remarks from me on yesterdays trip. It was a good day despite the absolutely atrocious weather once 45699 joined the train. Its a shame the last trip I did was run in similar conditions (34046 to Salisbury) but these things can't be helped when booking. Its good to see 86259 has almost certainly become an attraction in its own right on these trips, with a number of people doing part fares on the earlier sections just to get the haulage in. Les Ross (the person, not the loco!) was also walking up and down the train handing out flyers and selling books so hopefully that interest is kept up. 45699 did well in the conditions but we were 30 mins late into Carlisle after the slow climb up Grayrigg and Shap. I did hear some people suggesting that poor coal was the reason for the slog but this is unconfirmed. A minimum of about 13-14mph half way up Shap but we accelerated slightly and went over the summit at 17. I look forward to possibly a summer run when conditions may be better. Mike Notley was on board the train so you may see a more detailed and accurate log in the next SR. Either way a good day that did what it said on the tin and we got back into Euston 5 mins early with the 86 at the helm.

Well done to all those who ventured out, it looked absolutely horrid out there yesterday! My thanks also to all those involved in running the trip.
