It's deemed to be a headshunt, but is in truth just overrun protection for signal 2B (the yard exit signal). if a train ever goes down it, then something, somewhere, is wrong (be it the driver or the signalling)!

Just as long as the signalman/woman/person can jump quick enough, everythings fine !

Heh, yes that was my thoughts too when I read that post, certainly the unsuspecting signalman/woman would be in for a surprise, looking out the signalbox, only to see a train heading right for them!

Though to be fair, at least they'd hear it coming (one hopes...)

Actually seeing the headshunt positioned right by the signal box like that does remind of a certain Rev. Awdry story, where Donald reverses into a signal box?

One hopes the welsh engines are a bit more careful then the scottish ones at least... ;)

    ...and why would it not..?

Manufactured from new materials (rather than from reclaimed rails and old sleepers) by a nationally recognised specialist railway company that manufactures, installs, maintains, and repairs railway tracks throughout the UK, servicing many different sectors including industrial, heritage, and narrow gauge railways....

    ...or are we missing something..?

"Looks a little low to me..." (Quote from post by Baldwin, before he deleted it...)

Hmmm... Narrow-gauge not standard gauge... single central chopper couplings not two buffers... Good job we factored that into the design or we would have looked silly..!

The welded bits are welded, the bolted bits are bolted...

I don't see why it woulden't, you would not be doing any great rate within the station limits anyway, so no worth anything greater like a sand trap.

I didn't, you deleted that section after I posted the reply...!!!

How did you know then that i had deleted it ? In your post it clearly states that i had deleted it, there is no indication that you edited it afterwards to allow for the deletion. I would prefer in future that you reply to my posts in a normal manner to avoid any confusion. Regarding the buffer stop, it looks more like an after thought then anything proposed as a security measure, let's just hope that it won't need to be put to test.

That is the most solid looking 'after thought' I have ever seen............

Why would a buffer stop be an afterthought when the layout including the position of the signal box has been known for quite some time? For a loco to actually hit the stop it would have had to pass a signal at danger and even then the speed limit is 5mph. It is also slightly uphill through the sidings towards the crossover (or at least it was), so it is also unlikely that stock could run away towards the signal box.

Basically the bobby is quite safe.

I would be happy to oblige you, if you were to extend the same courtesy to others and not delete parts of your postings without stating that they have been edited....

When a post is edited it's stated already automatically below. The point i am trying to make is that you went ahead and posted a referral to part of a post that had been deleted intentionally, if it had been deleted it was because i did not want it to be discussed and you showed a clear lack of respect in showing it afterwards in full knowledge that it had been deleted. If you were sincere with your courtesy you would have apologised by now.
