To re-phrase my previous post I would not be surprised if the terms and conditions of such a large grant required consultation with and/or approval of the HLF before any sale or transfer of ownership took place.

In the HLF area I am active in, we cannot sell the area after completion of works, and at worst you have to have a 25 year lease on the land.

The more I think about this the more I would expect the money to be paid back, or maybe a cast iron guarantee of 10 years work, within a set time span, transferred is a very ambiguous word....

Suppose it also depends on who signed the project off, humble pie might come into the equation.

Yes, that is the kind of thing I would expect e.g. if Bressingham had gone bust the terms of the grant agreement would put HLF ahead of most other creditors for repayment. I would guess the Royal Scot & General Trust must have agreed similar or renegotiated terms and conditions before HLF allowed the transfer of ownership.

The railway touring co brochure I have advertises the coast to coast express on 5th July 2014 as hauled by either 6100 or 6201, is there any news that 6100 could be ready for this? However the website does say either 70013 or 46233 for this railtour.

RTC has advertised 6100 every year since 2009.
Like a gambler always placing bets on Red, they will eventually get lucky.

    :)

I can't wait for when they do.

Seems 6100 is getting towards the end of another full overhaul and looks set to replace 4464 on the mainline next year, suggested it might be in BR Green when it returns.

that makes sence, ,i mean 46100 replacing 4464, as regards painting it green, anything is better than Ward Pink, i assume this gentleman and others now have no say in the future of Royal Scot ,or any other engine .

Strange as it may seem I bought a book on Scottish Steam Locomotives and it included a picture of 61307 in lined BR Apple Green - so a Black 5 in said livery could have been under consideration in the early days of BR

Post war, new B1s were delivered painted in Apple Green in LNER days and following, nationalisation, this continued but with BRITISH RAILWAYS on the tender and the new number on the cab sides. Experimental liveries, including Apple Green, were applied to, I think, four Black Fives, but they were very short lived and common sense was soon restored.

    No Fred, it actually happened.
M4762 was painted in Southern Railway malachite green livery
M4763 was painted in LNER apple green livery
M4764 was painted in GWR green livery
M5292 was painted in LNWR black.
This happened in January 1948. Lining was applied to the LH sides only, initially.
It is not known when they were repainted back to black, but 4762 was reported to be still in malachite green in 1952.
