............and don't forget London Transport who got us from St Pancras to Baker Street via the Circle Line for the short walk to Marylebone. Also WCRC Control who also played a major part. What was doubly re-assuring was that every train operating company whose trains we used knew we were coming and made announcements on trains and stations as to where we should go and what we should do next etc even though the VT stewards had already told us. This was an outstanding piece of co-operation between TOC's, LU, and NR.

At least most of the line eventually got re-opened as Overground, though at the expense of demolishing the whole of the old Shoreditch goods station instead of just cutting a way through it. And a bit of the line that didn't get re-opened had (and possibly still has?) some ex-Underground coaches sitting on it and serving as an art studio.

    But that's enough thread drift.

Then lost another hour when the clocks went forward - but you can't blame the railways for that ! :D:D

Yes of course. Still half asleep from Saturday when I posted this. My apologies. I have amended the original posting.

Pretty sure we can fine Network rail for a clock failure.

So how long will it be to resolve Braunton's issue? A week or two or a month or so.

Did it not run back to London with the ECS a few hours later?

    Hopefully not too serious then?

She did indeed haul the ECS back to London. We were only forced to return home via other methods due to Engineering Possessions blocking our original route. Something I'm sure those of us onboard have mentioned previously if you read this thread...

And a cracking run it was too.

We made the right decision to get the passengers home the way we did. ECS ( well almost...2 support, the chef and the guard!) got to Hanwell just after 10:30, so there was no way we could have swapped for the 47 and beat the possessions.

The 4 of us didn't make much of a dent in the 120 portions of Rhubarb & Apple Crumble....although we gave it our best shot!

I quite enjoyed my first journey on a Javelin tbf...

For £110 I got 47 / Bulleid / 395 / Tube Train / 168 haulage in, don't think many other company could offer that much variety at that price!
And we also got a talk on Home-made Jewellery between Marylebone & Banbury from a Natasha Bagnall, though she isn't related to the Stoke Locomotive builders (that she is aware of...) despite us asking.

The chef might have been taken into custard-y though when they got back.

    Sorry...

Pity they weren't flans, then the ecs could be home to the "Phantom Phlan Phlinger" at every station it passed.

:) I don't think VT actually offered it. If it was that sort of variety you were after, maybe a return to London on a Chiltern service (168), a travelcard (tube train ans 395 - not sure about the latter) and a visit to the Epping Ongar Railway (diesel and steam locos + a vintage bus) could give you similar variety but at a somewhat lower price.
