That's a great shame as I, and I'm sure many others, have been enjoying your posts. I do know, however, how you feel having been in a similar situation.

I've followed the progress of the attempts to reopen the line through to Stoke now for must be 4 years and I'm still hopeful it will happen eventually.
Theres loads of us interested in it so don't let the naysayers win.

When we can give confirmation of anything we will do.

Jeff and a few others though have tried to keep the interest up, but as he points out there's always someone who seems to pop and and find something wrong or make a big deal out of nothing. We have been told a Volunteers meeting that news on Endon will hopefully be made some point this year. Until then though we can only sit and wait patiently.

Making no comments on the progress we have made but will put on photos of work we are doing. All these jobs were done on the same day on MCR trackbed. Some of these are Sheffs photos
1 Starting off from Leek Brook.
    2 Tree removal from line.
    3 Me clearing drains.
4 Returning pig hut from embankment, was tempted to put it on hi hab as a shelter but thought it might be to posh.
    5 Replacing crossing timbers

To echo somewhat what others have already said:

Please, just ignore the negatives. There are quite a few people here who are very interested to hear how you all are making out, and we love to hear updates from those 'on the ground' there. (I myself am very interested in heritage lines getting re-connected to the national network, so you all and the GCR are two which have a lot of my attention.) So when you post, just think about us, and not the others! We do very much appreciate hearing from you!

All the routine work by the small bands of volunteers continues, we are being positive about the future. The track is being maintained, work on the Polish tank engine is nearing completion, summer is coming - what more could we want ? A few more volunteers would be nice so that we can complete jobs a bit more quickly.

I'd echo the supportive comments on this thread, please keep providing updates. The majority of people who come onto this forum do so because they love railways, just like you guys do. Many of them will love the CVR, I certainly do. I used to work at Britannia in the early 90s (when it was a good place to work). I spent quite a few lunch hours at the Boat at Chedd and I often had a nosey at the yard. I've still got photos of the yard from 1995 / 6.

Sadly there are always people who find it easier to criticise others than to actually do something constructive themselves. Similarly some people find it easier to feel good about themselves by making others look or feel worse. Don't let them get to you.

Chins up, heads up, keep going. It is worth it and it is appreciated. I look forward to riding to Endon on the CVR some time soon - so does the old man.

Technically speaking we have always been connected to the national network as the line has always been intact from Leek Brook Junction to Glebe Street Junction at Stoke.

Living in Kent i am always glad to read about railways further afield please don"t stop the info i"m always glad of it.
No matter what forum anyone looks at there will always a few self righteous twits who will try to put you down, although NP does seem to have more than it"s fair share of them. Keep up the good work.:)

Yes, that's why that lady tried to turn part of that section into a footpath! :)

But to be serious, I can't wait to see the first train (in many years) run along that section of line. I wonder when it will happen?

There is still quite a lot of work to be done to bring it back to passenger use. We went down to Endon several weeks ago on the sleeper changer to make sure that the track was clear ,the only thing was a tree down in the cutting by St.Edwards. See 2nd photo on my last post.

It makes me think that the PW gang is seen by some here as a sort of slow running soap drama. Watch here for tomorrow's thrilling episode.

Right, but what about the Endon-Stoke section? (I interpret your statement to mean that you all looked at the track on the other side of Endon?)

Mind, I'm not kvetching at you all for the lack of progress, or anything like that - purely and simply curious about the state of things further down the line.

Noel, we and by we I mean the CVR pway gang will not be involved with the Endon to Stoke section. It would be far to exacting for us, there is a vast amount of work to be done on this section and we have with the Endon section about 16 miles to look after. Not that I'm complaining about that because the variety of the 3 lines is absolutely superb but a part time group of lets say knocking on a bit guys with big hearts its a bridge to far. But saying that I'm sure we could manage another 1 mile into Leek.
