Just a quick question, what are the dates that this engine has worked between in preservation? Thanks very much.

I have seen one quote saying that it first ran in preservation in 1977, seems quite early to me. Presumably it ran for about 10 years. It certainly ran briefly on the main line during GWR 150 in 1985.

From the Didcot Website " It was bought by the Society in August 1971, and sent to its Taunton depot, being partially restored there before coming to Didcot in 1977" . It does not state when restoration was completed.

I have just found some old notes which say it first steamed in Jan 1985. It hauled a train from Didcot to Reading for a depot open day in June 1985.. It was registered on TOPS as 98472. It worked on the WSR between August 1986 and December 1987. It also visited the KWVR. I think it was withdrawn from servic in 1995..

I'm sure it had a stint on the GWSR at some point. Certainly rings a bell it being there in the late 80s/90s (possibly when City of Truro also visited briefly?).
