This is the one in "Changing Trains" There is another in the loco works which is, I understand, very much more advanced.

That is 41313 and is the one that isn't being worked on at present, 41298 is however being progressed slowly. Maintenance of the running fleet has to take priority.

The second timetabled goods is tomorrow, with an extra 3 wagons in the train and all in Southern livery. The rostered loco is W8 Freshwater.

Now there's showing off! Not only superbly reconstructed goods stock but also two re-boilered locomotives to haul it.

These shots also demonstrate how an A1x could handle goods traffic as well as hauling more passengers than a corresponding steam railmotor.

There is now a report on the IWSR website of the June Island Steam Day, which this month featured W8 'Freshwater' on the Heritage Goods Train. The article also gives a bit of an update on wagon restoration, which is one of our real success stories of recent years. Gary Walker (C&W manager) has built up a really enthusiastic team who are producing some excellent results, have a look at the C&W news for an update on how well they are doing, the next wooden framed wagon rebuild (LSWR Crane Match 429SM) is making rapid progress.

In case anyone is interested, the IWSR is offering Footplate Experiences this year, basically a full round trip footplate ride.

The next Island Steam Day is this coming Sunday, 13th July. Once again the Heritage Goods Train will be out and about, it should have either a Terrier or the O2 at the head - not sure which it will be yet.

The Working Time Table for the goods service has now been published on the IWSR website.
