Just leaving Stranraer 30 late, locos are top & tail with 44871 leading after points problems prevented 45407 from running round.

All the videos so far have been magnificent, but two clips have really impressed
Liskeard (6.34) in particular is just stunning.....power!
The going away shot at Braystones (9.03) is sublime.

Another on-board marathon. A long seven hours to York with all stops in loops it would seem. And then just a short leg stretch while the engines are changed with a final breather at Retford. It was something similar that put my better half off these kind of trips. Not that it's anything that either the RTC or WC can remedy although I imagine there will be a few who will ask why the leg to York couldn't have been done in less time so that people could actually see the place on the way home.

Problem is, it'll be dark when she gets down here. :(

TBH I had hoped (& prayed) that the arrival time at KGX would've been much earlier, hey ho I'll just have to wait for the Midlander next month!!

I has been stated on here before that the Edinburgh to York section is busier at weekend than weekdays, while the York to Kings Cross is the opposite. See times for the return of the Cath Ex to Scotland last year on a Monday http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t13/t0617a.htm

Fair point. But the Cath Ex timings just show that sadly for everyone, the timings that NR has come up with for GBVII are rather extended, shall we say. The Cath Ex was one hour shorter overall and they had an hour at York not 40 min. But as we have been reminded on this Forum, just because the times are on RTT doesn't necessarily mean that the RTC/WC are happy with them. So time will tell.

Might not be a loco at all, isn't 6024's tender stored there currently ?, either that or 5029.

Having just given it some thought almost certainly is 5029!

Also I believe I saw one of locomotive services support coaches parked next to her.

It's 5029 we are now based at Barton hill for the summer season

    Support crew 5029/Locomotive Services.

These are my views not those of any organisations I belong to.

Understand 45407 has derailed in Cadder yard, blocking in 44871. Oh poo!
