The Mid-Norfolk is pleased to announce that for one weekend only we are to receive a visit from LMS 8f 48624. The locomotive will spend three days away from its base at the GCR to cover trains on the 24-26th May. This move has come about as the engine due to spend its summer on the MNR (Gresley N2 1744/69253) has been requested for some filming work at the GC. As the MNR require steam to meet its advertised service, the GCR have helpfully sought to provide an alternative loco.

The maroon 8F will make its first ever visit to the MNR for three days hauling an intensive service including a Fish and Chip special on the Saturday night (for details contact Dereham station.) This hire comes the week before the MNRs hotly antipcated WCR gala.

The MNR wishes to record its thanks to our friends at the Great Central Railway, David Mackintosh, The Gresley Society and The 48624 Fund.

It is indeed a shame that the 8F couldn't stay longer, but the loco is needed at the GCR. We are just thankful that the visit has been made possible.

The loco is now at the MNR and will work for three days this weekend before returning early next week. Please come and down and see the loco if you can.

    Regards
