I see from UK steam that 44932 is now due to take Sunday's trip but 70013 is still scheduled for Saturday. Is that correct? I thought 70013 had been out of service for some time but wasn't sure if the work had been completed. Can anyone provide an update?

Thanks - I thought 70013 was due to work both trains but it seems that it wasn't

Odd surprise unless its a shorter train or diesel on the back, Sundays is via Streatham Hill and Selhurst.. Selhurst particularly is a bit of a climb through the station Ian Riley's two fives nearly stalled there at Christmas on an ecs... Heard them coming for 10 minutes before the station.

There will be a Diesel on the rear of both trains to accommodate the various reversals the train will make during the day, and I suspect on Sunday, to give a shove at necessary places.

    That's ruined my day,
I was rather hoping to watch a feast of noise, see a morning of train delays and spending the afternoon writing to southern trains asking for refunds due to late running services.
    :)

For those of you who like traditional signalling the East Coastway resignalling has yet to happen and so there are good semaphores at Berwick (please leave the pole position for me) plus Pevensey and Westham and Bexhill. Also I believe one at Newhaven

Looked good at Haywards Heath and the train was full (maybe it's the rare track down to Seaford). Mind you as she was leaving the sun came out (an hour ago it chucked it down.

70013 was also carrying a small Seaford 150 headboard. Didn't realise it was a water stop there until I saw the Water Tanker.Very rare seeing a loco take water here.

Well the run appeals also to those who like diesels there is a fair bit of rare class 33 haulage.

Apparently late leaving Newhaven due to a points failure.

Yes, points problems at Newhaven, we did get to Seaford and down the short branch to Newhaven Marine where we took water. Departed Brighton 14.01.

A few photos from Tonbridge this evening - 70013 looked brilliant and arrived and departed bang on time.

Leaving Tonbridge you can normally hear the train for miles as it attacks the bank up to Hildenborough, especially with a loco like 70013 at the front. Sadly today 70013 made no effort at all and the only noise that could be heard was the Crompton shoving for all it's worth.

We were told, on leaving Hastings, that 'Ollie' had a valve problem and the return to Victoria would be diesel assisted.
Fortunately the important business of the day had already been concluded.
A small plus, the PA system was working on the train!

70013 definitely sounded off beat on the 2nd of David-Haggars clips.

70013 this evening. I was expecting her to wake the dead climbing through Hildenborough, but if she was nursing a valve problem then that's unfortunate. Hopefully it's not a big job to fix.
