Thanks Ralph and earlier posters. I'm guessing this means you can stand by a window so long as its shut for that section? Looking forward to the trip.

Carnforth-Carlisle in 72 min with an 8F today. That will be quite an 'ask' I think. Hopefully, if they can get away on time or even early from the changeover, they may be able to keep ahead of the service train.

So 72 min became about 110 in the end. Plenty of noise no doubt. I just hope that NR was relaxed about that much time at modest speeds on the WCML.

They must have been; they wouldn't have accepted it to run the tour otherwise.

Only went to Parton today, but what a sight to get for doing the 320 mile round trip! Although seeing Steve's video above, maybe I should have stuck with my original plan of St Bee's! Here's hoping RYTC consider a couple of more runs in the Autumn......

We got badly delayed at Wigan, sitting there for several minutes, and this meant we arrived at Carnforth about 15 down. The loco change was complete in the allotted time but it meant we had missed our original path, so ended up waiting for another gap then being looped at Greyrigg and Penrith, so despite Gordons best efforts we arrived at Carlisle 50 down. The support crew did a great job and had the service done and 48151 back on the train for the scheduled departure time. Time fluctuated on the coast but after the loco change we were on our way from Carnforth pretty close to time. No complaints from the punters in my part of the train and it left Crewe on time so hopefully should be back in Euston on schedule.

Footage from Scalthwaiterigg (north of Oxenholme) this morning and Eskmeals this afternoon. By far the best 8F performance I have seen to date.

The 8f sounded amazing from on board today and the performance seemed really good in my humble opinion.
She is pictured here this evening having just come off at Carnforth.
