2014 Fellsmans

As I said outright speed is a problem where a need to regain time occurs for other reasons but if the schedule is relaxed enough there is no other drawback.
Think in fairness it's already been stated the delays earlier in the CCE created the problem with pathing. We've also seen the larger wheeled locos lose time Carnforth - Carlisle and get looped so it's not just the 8F. It's marginal whatever steam involved but obviously the 8F starts with a greater disadvantage.

 

Anything that ensures that the 8 has work to stay mainline is great, each time that WCRC unveil another thoroughbred to the fleet I fear for her, and each time she proves me wrong.

But she isn't suited to the run over shap sadly as the lack of speed does suffer, but Fellsman seems like perfect territory for her!

However for simplicity and usability she will always lose out to a black five due to the higher speed, so fingers crossed that WCRC don't get their hands on another as then it may be farewell to her.

But the "silver lining" is that the 8F has to work harder - with the consequent rise in noise levels - that produces sounds which appeal to the on-board passengers.

 

That's a benefit not a drawback. Hour in Carlisle(again) is long enough...

If one is not just a mainline steam enthusiast but has a range of cultural and historical interests, there is plenty to do in Carlisle. My wife and I visit at least once or twice a year and we are still finding new distractions.

Has anyone got info on why RTT hasnt got a time for Hellifield yet?

 

Had a message saying there was a problem with 5699 at Bleamoor but that is all I know .

 

Past Hellifield 1910 48 late. Should make some of that up going down to Clitheroe though.
