    Agreed.

I ran out of sympathy with the Fire service and their strikes several years ago, all they seem to want to do is go on strike these days, and usually choose dates such as November 5th. to do it.

The sooner some laws are passed to allow businesses and individuals to sue Public Sector unions for the damage they cause to the Nation the better, then perhaps we will see a lot less of these wildcat strikes and their (often thuggish) union leaders on the T.V. news.

The tickets for both trips were sent through at 5pm yesterday. The evening circular tickets mentioned the train was returning to Kensington instead of Victoria to ensure that the loco could return to Southall before the engineering work started. This alteration must not have saved enough time to get the stock to Southall. I see the Steam Dreams website now states both runs are with 44932.

So now we have three versions of least of the story:

    1) Neither trip will be steam hauled due to a Network Rail ban on steam at the weekend.
    2) The daytime trip will be diesel and the evening one steam.
    3) Both will be steam but 70013 is unavailable so 44932 will do the job (no doubt with a little diesel assistance)

Someone must know the real story!!!

Saturday is a write off due to the Fireman's strike, two box haulages (CathEx's) & one cancellation.
    http://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs14.htm#twk
Also another cancellation on Sunday (ACE) due to loco availability.
Is the fire brigade union going to reimburse all the CathEx passengers fully 100%?
    They should.
I usually have high regard for the emergency services, but in this case........................

Morning train diesel-hauled; afternoon train steam-hauled by 44932.

Network Rail envoked a ban on steam-hauled, during the hours of Saturday's strike (10.00 - 17.00), not because the risk of fire occuring but the consequences of no cover being available from the fire service, in the event of a fire.

Thanks for the info, can you please explain why the evening run is now with 44932 and not 70013.

So how do you magic up a fully to pressure stream train into Victoria between the end of the strike at 17:00 and the departure time at 17:01?

Don't think he was getting shirty.
I think he was talking from his mouth unlike someone else who was talking from his rear.

I'll let James answer in authority, but from my viewpoint,
Victoria is a terminal station, and the loco is towed in by a diesel, little risk of fire from a loco being pulled about at the back of a train at low speed in a built up suburb.

Or to put another spin on it...

Maybe they are trying their best to serve their customers without ruining the day due to no fault of their own ?

    Does it really matter?
I'm not sure about that, maybe this LE move from Stewarts Ln is the steam loco? :

    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U63095/2014/06/21/advanced

It would be reasonable to assume that any NR ban would only apply to a loaded train.

Anyway its great news that the punters on the evening trip are getting what they paid for. I wonder if the people on the earlier diesel hauled trip had the option of cancelling and getting a refund/credit? I think we all know the answer to that.....

5305LA have tweeted from the Cromwell70013 account that the option of Stewarts Lane without support coach all day and overnighting in Hanwell loop overnight wasn't suitable for them so LE from Stewarts Lane seems to be the case.

However despite the information on here from James and the tweets from 5305LA SD still told us Cromwell will do the PM and lunch trip if the strike is called off!

I can't remember the last successful SD trip we did. All our bookings of late have been in lieu of cancelled or postponed trips, or credit from unsuccessful ones. Running out of trips and dates to use them on now!

Well yes it does, quite a bit really if you want to run a steam loco out, you need to get it in.

I'm betting they aint getting steam in the evening either. Hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.

Well if it was a risk planner, I would be saying to myself, the strike ends at 17:00 is the FB service in place at 17:01? What would your answer to that be?
