    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on a topic that featured in the current issue of Steam Railway magazine regarding 62712 Morayshire returning south of the border and back to England so it could possibly appear at some heritage railways autumn galas
Me and my friend are very excited about this news and we wondering where she'll be appearing too.

I do also realise it is currently under talks so i gather no news is good news.

    Many thanks and Kind Regards
    Yrm,.

A pretty exciting development for those who cannot get north of the border, or want to see it with some alternative scenery and stock.
I'd imagine it would be a profitable venture.

question is will it be south of the border before, during or after the Scottish Independence vote and will tax be charged on it for it's return (or would it be considered British property after that vote and not eligible to be returned ?) Indeed the devaluation of the Scottish £ might be such that the engine cannot be afforded to be returned, and that it actually might sustain scottish steam on it's British revenue stream :)

    ok I'll behave..

Great thing to see it on tour south of the border, would be nice to see some other locomotives swapped and run in Scotland in reciprocity..Crab would be a nice one.. WD arguably another..

Various options are being explored; these visit(s) will hopefully provide financial support for the upcoming overhaul.

However, the locomotive will not be going anywhere unless we can finish No.19, as we require a minimal operational fleet of two locomotives – therefore if anybody fancies lending a hand either give me a PM or see www.srpssteam.com!

Would be nice to see her at the NYMR next spring - D49s were a staple of this line in LNER/BR days.

I dare say the photo charter operators are taking a keen interest.

Yes they do, and I fully expect them to try to lure 65894 there when it is finished, although I hope that they are unsuccessful and it remains NYMR-based. They'll probably be in competition with the Wensleydale for it, though, if they try.

65894 has been to Embsay in the past. Two very good charters while it was there.

62712 visited the line in September 2008. The locomotive has also visited Darlington Works, The Great Central and Llangollen since she was restored to running order.

For a variety of reasons I doubt if the NYMR is likely to feature in any English tour.

    Yes and No

One individual is rumoured, and subject to all the usual legal caveats, allegedly touting the engine to preserved railways in return for "exclusivity"

Hopefully the railways and loco custodian will see sense and prevent this from happening .

before anyone gets too excited I suspect any haulage bill will be into five figures and that is before a steaming fees are accounted for

any railway is going to be very brave to take on this or at least a portion of
