Pleased to report that AB1719, 'Lady Nan', successfully passed her steam test and was out and about last weekend.

An unsusual start to the weekend as we suddenly found ourselves up to the ears in traction engines which were using Wirksworth Yard as a staging post in a weekend road tour.

The last of the holes for the spring hanger pins has been reamed out round. Simon went off to do some machining and the new bushes were a driving fit in the hole, while the pin was a smooth sliding fit in the bushes. Meanwhile the frames are starting to look very smart in black gloss on the outside and we are making steady progress on the inside.

On the subject of Bagnalls, "Empress" (3061, 1954) steamed last week for the first time this century. She will be in operation at Mangapps next Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

That makes all 4 surviving members of the class operational unless I am mistaken. Great news.

Surely there's the making of a really good gala there! All in different liveries too. I suspect the problem would be getting Princess away on a visit so probably a non-starter.

Bellerophon and Dubs Crane Tank are scheduled to be in steam this coming Bank Holiday weekend at Foxfield, with the newly restored North Staffordshire Railway coaches on public display.

All the spring hanger pin holes on the RHS of the frames now rebushed. Cleaning and painting continues between the frames.

We have a sales stall at Bakewell Model Railway Exhibition this weekend if any Natpres members are passing.

Andrew Barclay 1385 Rosyth No. 1 has today passed its in service steam test. Some test running will take place this Sunday and if successful will enter service at the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway on 14/15 June.

The Cab, bunker and tanks are awaiting final lining out, we hope this to be completed by our 1940's weekend July 12 & 13.

That is a pretty job. Team should be proud. Don't forget to post another pic when the lining is complete.

Bagnall 2746 "The Duke" - Request for information.

The valve rods have been sent away for welding and machining at Spiral Weld ltd, who have been very helpful. The question is, what were the original diameters of the main rod and tail? Measurement suggests both have been turned down at previous overhauls, as the rods are different from each other.

    Regards,

    Tim

    Austerity Valve Rod Dimensions.

Information from both Consolidationmike and Locomotive Maintenance Services is that the main rod is 1 3/4" when new. We guess at 1 1/2" for the tail, but does anyone actually know?

I saw KESR Austerity No. 24 awaiting collection at Wittersham Road at the weekend. She'd been on the market for a while, so presumably she's been sold. Anybody know where she's going.

Someone said somewhere that Bagnall 0-6-0ST "Vulcan" has been on the move from N. Tyneside recently - does anyone know what's going on with it? Is Victor in service at the LHR now?

Not *that* "Vulcan" - thinks it's the 0-4-0ST (Vulcan Foundry 3272 of 1918) which was visiting Beamish and is going "home" to Barrow Hill. See the excellent Beamish blog here:
