I think it's because once the train has set off and has a time recorded, the times for the rest of the journey are filled in based on that original time, showing the ETA, so setting off 10 minutes late, the times at each location will be 10 minutes later than the original schedule. Each time the train recovers or loses more time the passing times are updated accordingly. The present location being after the last point where there is an RT or *E or *R shown.

OK Ralph, thanks for that. See what you mean when it records which line it has passed on, more detail shown as it progresses. Pete

Seems to be some purely coincidental outbreaks of fires after the passage of this.....
    Steam ban anyone?

Somewhere in the Newark area it seems. As long as all problems, whatever they are, stay east of the Pennines, I'll be happy. Important things happening on WCML this weekend and we wouldn't want NR to have any clever ideas.

dropped firebox would probably be terminal for both crew and anyone in a 100 metre radius

second guessing but given reports of lineside fires , maybe a dropped grate

I saw 61994 & 60009 held at Newark earlier, they were still sitting off platform 3 at 1400. I had a chat with station staff who said it had been stopped by Network Rail after reports of a bank fire being started on it's approach to Newark. I gather investigation showed it to be a bonfire in a garden but I think NR aired on the side of caution and stopped the train. It was awaiting a diesel from Carnforth to tow the pair onward. The diesel was expected around 1530. I couldn't hang a round but can only presume it has arrived and the pair will be on their way shortly.

If it's mechanical failure as opposed to general fire risk, I'd imagine you'll be alright.

Highly unlikely to melt a fire bar on a gentle light engine move. My father claimed he melted the firebars on a Brit outside Colchester while "letting the loco off its leash"!

So they brought the diesel down, because someone started a bonfire.
