The heritage goods train is such a good idea! However, I do have to ask: on Sunday 13th, will the passenger trains be pulled by a Terrier/02 or by what is to me the less attractive ex army/industry locos? I mean no disrespect to the workhorses in saying this!

It's just that getting to the railway is quite expensive and takes more planning and I will only do it if I can ride behind one or more of the 3 old timers!

The passenger train at the moment is down to be hauled by 192 with W8 on the goods. W24 is now on a boiler washout after working for the past few weeks.

Even with 192 on the front, you are assured of great pre-grouping carriages.:)

Thanks for the helpful replies. I appreciate the help. I'm eager not to start one of those ridiculous angry rows about locos, hence my careful use of language. I'll visit another day, I promise!! I really like the railway, but want to ride behind one of the 3 old timers on any visit I make. Hope the day is a real success for the line. Thanks again.

Yes I am an active volunteer
Likewise, I'm keeping an eye on the IOWSR website to see whether there's likely to be an advertised day or event when the Terriers and O2 are likely to be running...
    the newly restored Ivatt too???
I couldn't make the event in May, but will try to make the next one. I'll be travelling down from Yorkshire, so need to plan in advance for leave, accommodation etc...

    Thanks, in anticipation.

The Victorian weekend August 2/3rd will be the next time that the 02 and the Terriers will be out together as part of an event. This week the services are in the hands of 192 and Ajax whereas over the last 3 or 4 weeks something like 90% of the trains have been hauled by the Terriers and the 02.

The Terriers and the 02 have all come due either washouts or water changes.
