Have you tried the new "fall down a bank on your arse" tool in CS6 yet?

Not sure what perspective you are implying, but the only reason 60009 continued to work without diesel assistance is that its itinerary did not take it into York Control's area.

No doubt a foretaste of things to come, with the Fellsmans (Fellsmen?) continuing to be steam worked, FBU strikes permitting, while everything that touches York has a diesel somewhere in the consist, ready to take over at a moment's notice, even if not on the front from the start.

Very true. The irony is that York has had a lot of money spent on it recently, with the installation of the new turntable to replace the "Engineers' Triangle". It doesn't look good for the SSEs unless we get some more wet weather. Pity last night's and today's rain hadn't arrived 24 hours earlier, but there it is :(

In one respect a slightly tongue-in-cheek response given my known affinity for A4s - especially Haymarket ones.

But on a more serious note IMHO the S&C and Ribble Valley routes present a greater risk of sparks than the more gentle York - Scarborough route yet the restrictions appear less stringently applied as 60009 appeared to be operated without restriction - although I do not know if its crews were given any words of caution / warning. It would therefore appear that a more consistent policy needs to be applied - and be publicised - so that operators can decide beforehand what can be operated in the prevailing weather conditions.
