Booked for that one as well on the basis that one of the two days will be sunny.

Excellent - booked the 7th for myself and my father. Duxford still not confirmed so decided to play it safe and see all three...

She was due to take off from Canada today at 10am local time (3pm BST) but they had problems with number 2 engine. It's just been announced they'll try again tomorrow, same time, after overnight repairs.

There should be live coverage on www.chch.com/live but be warned, it'll drive you insane watching it for too long! I've had it on in the background most of the afternoon, and it really makes me appreciate what bloody good value the TV licence is!

Couldn't agree more about chch.com. I never want to hear another report about the chuffing Burlington Skyway.

I've read that the plan is for a guard of honour to escort her into Coningsby - Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane and Red Arrows. Route should take them over Lincoln Cathedral. What a sight that will be.

Wrong. 1st leg is Hamilton to Goose Bay. 2nd leg is Goose Bay to Keflavik, Iceland. 3rd leg is Keflavik to Prestwick, Scotland. 4th leg is Prestwick to Coningsby. Which way did you think they'd go?

ok, so they are flying via iceland, i thought they would fly via russia, into europe then across the channel being that its such an historic aircraft . that they would not wish to risk flying long legs over the sea. just shows how wrong you can be:(

Coming via Siberia and the rest of Russia would make crossing the Atlantic look like a stroll in the park.

    Which is faster.
    A Lancaster or a Hercules?
Flew Lyneham - Gander 12 hours then a further 6 hours to Toronto in 1982 in a Herc.

It was a long long flight.

The Hercules, by a considerable margin - cruising speed is probably 50% faster than a Lanc.
