Glad to hear the small Prairie has made it into the works, it was starting to look a little sad under the bridge. Might be total nonsense to suggest this is either reasoning for its overhaul or a guarantee of future work, but the railway is running a lot more out-of-season trains these days with the earlier start to the season in February plus the Thursday/weekend running in November and December (which was very, very welcome for a Devon resident). Imagine the loadings on these might be more suitable for a small Prairie.

Meanwhile 4588 remains on my lottery win list along with the Bulleid Double-Decker and a few other bits and bobs...

Is there any chance of viewing 4588 at the anniversary gala or not

I wonder if they are overhauling it for a sale? Might be more saleable as a running loco? Or maybe as a swap deal?

Might be worth more as a kit of parts for making something else for Didcot! 44XX anyone?

Surprisingly big job to make a 44 from a 45. The wheel spacings are different and so the shopping list includes wheels, some rods, and major frame mods or replacement. Nearer a 47 sized job than the 29 or 68 I suspect.

Not many classes with a better reputation for surefootedness.
