I wonder if anyone can provide some information on two LNER Group Standard tenders. One is just a chassis and was seen at Boness in June 2013. Does anyone know where it came from and its identity.
The other was converted to a snowplough (not the big independent snowploughs but the type that still look like a loco tender) and was recorded at the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley in 1995. Does anyone know if it is still at Butterley or if it has been moved or scrapped and what its number was a snowplough.
Any information would be helpful for the Vintage Carriage Trust Tender Register

    Thanks

    Justin

Not a help, I know, but I was surprised to see that most of the surviving snowploughs on NR are based on LNER tenders.

The one at bo'ness is still there complete with wheelsets and axlebox cases - whether or not we still have the actual boxes is another thing! There's not tank or skin either - but even if there was there would be so many holes that you'd need a travelling water tower to keep enough water in the tender!

Useful source of running gear spares if you need them, though.

Good to know its still exists. Would you be able to ask around at Boness, if you're down there, if anyone knows its history and where it came from?

As stated by Ross, the tender frames, axel boxes, wheel sets and springs are on site (although where I'm not exactly sure!).

The tender was privately owned and the SRPS were going to overhaul it and in exchange receive another group standard tender to operate behind Morayshire. Obliviously this deal fell through, and I think the tender has now been acquired by the SRPS. No plans for a return to service in the immediate future though!

A picture of the frames as they were on the 2nd August:
