On Saturday night I was on a TimeLine Events photo charter with RT1 starting at the London Bus Museum at 21:00 and heading for London.
We stopped off at various locations around the City overnight before getting back to Brooklands shortly before 04:30 on Sunday morning!
Several of the locations were done without the tripod because the situation dictated it, so although the ISO went through the roof a few times it was still a good night and an interesting experience, in more ways than one.
If anyone would like to see my photos from the night they can be seen here

Very nice shots, I especially like the St Paul's Churchyard one.

I'm going to nit pick now. Nice shots but why pose the bus with route blinds not appropriate for the locations?

Given the route blinds are getting on was it actually worth the effort to wind up and remove all the route blinds and replace them with the correct ones fot the city just for a photo shoot. I dont know off hand how many route blinds there were but suspect that the destinations were garage specific so one set of blinds for each garage and there must have been between 50 and 100 garages.

Brilliant photos - and the bus takes me back a bit (although I don't remember one quite so clean!). Thanks for sharing.

On the bus running days the organisers and owners go to great lengths to match the correct blinds to the routes operated. They're often not original blinds but temporary ones made up for the event. I'm sure something similar could have been done by the organiser if he had so wished - unless LT Museum doesn't want their bus fiddling with of course. As I said earlier though - nice shots.

    Thanks for the comments chaps.
There were many road closures in London for some bike ride event taking place so the route 22 was on diversion because of that!
In fact the roads around Brooklands were closed at 05:00 so we had to be back in time for that otherwise we could have done more.

    Regards,

    Paul

This bus is more of a recreation than a restoration and has something in common with Flying Scotsman in that there isn't much left of the original. I saw it in bits during restoration (one side missing, no upper deck floor, agro props holding everything up) and everything going back was brand new timber and metal. I know this as the chap doing the work was also working on the RF I co-owned at the time.

Still, a stunning job and great photos too. I miss the atmospheric interior glow of the lightbulbs of pre- fluro tube vehicles!

So it was on a diversion. Fair enough. I withdraw my criticism.

So , and being very careful what I say , the event didn't quite deliver what was proposed as a result of a known event and resulting road closures ?

    Not necessarily.
We went to several locations as advertised and it's only my assumption that we could have done more. Bearing in mind we were away from Brooklands for 7hrs 30mins perhaps we did all we reasonably could. But above all the participants seemed to have a good time on what was definitely something a bit different and of course that's what matters at the end. As a first event of it's type (or at least the first that I'm aware of) I would personally consider it a complete success.

    Regards,

    Paul

There have been one or two similar events for those "in the know" and mates with the organiser but I think this was the first one to be advertised to a wider audience.
