Just had the latest SR through the door.
Seems JB was not impressed with the state of 31874 & 31625.
"They were in better condition when they first arrived from Barry" is the consensus.
Also it is the first time he has seen the locos for 14 years.
As for the locos, the boilers are going to Stockton on Tees for overhaul & the bottom halves at Herston.
As for 73096, it MAY leave in mid September & POSSIBLY go to Carnforth to join 34016.
The last bit is not confirmed.

Looking at the title of this thread, it should now be closed in my opinion.

    Its time to move on.

I agree change the name as 3 out of the 5 are no longer on MHR Metals, and the last 2 will move very soon,
thus ending the whole unhappy saga,
As to the condition, how long have they been out of traffic for? longer than when they were in Barry for, and they were stored in the open, so its not surprising they are in a bad external condition, mechanically JB must have known they are both in need of work good luck with the restoration though

I wouldn't take any notice of a sound bite like that. Obviously they must be better than they were at Barry as a lot of money has been spent on fittings etc that weren't there when they were at Barry

Haven't read the article in Steam Beano myself yet, but was a balancing comment/response sought from the MHR or was this the usual unbalanced reporting that comes from some of the monthly steam press nowadays?

I don't know why John Bunch is surprised at the state of his loco's - after all they're His engines, so its his responsibility to do right by them.

Even given all the acrimony & ill will between the two parties, and dialogue done through a 3rd party, at the end of the day if JB can't be bothered to put his hand in his pocket and pay for some tarps to protect his assets (I'm sure if asked the MHR would've been good enough to have tied them over).

Then why should the MHR really care what state they're in? If the owner cant be bothered, At the end of the day they're nothing to do with the railway!

It's about time the thread was closed. The thread is going over old ground and isn't going anywhere.
